How to Submit a Show Proposal for R-TV

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to R-TV. This handbook was developed to provide you with an information resource for setting up and producing a show for R-TV. If you have questions or concerns about the forms or contracts outlined here, you should contact the R-TV Executive Producer or R-TV General Manager.

So you have an idea for a great show and you would like to produce it through R-TV. What do you do?

1. First you go to the R-TV Studio and pick up the Production Manual. All the forms in the Production Manual are also available on this website, by going to Staff –> Forms.

2. Begin with the Pre-Production Checklist; use this as a guide to producing your show. Before setting up a meeting with the R-TV Executive Producer please go through this checklist. If you are not prepared to present/discuss all the items listed there, do not set up a meeting because it will not go anywhere. These steps are in place to ensure that you have really thought about your show and what it will take to develop it and make it successful.

3. After completing this step, set up your meeting with the Executive Producer to pitch your show and discuss its production.

4. Once your show has been approved, the show’s Producer or Show Runner (person who runs the show, responsible for its day-today operations) is responsible for getting all the necessary contracts and forms to the Executive Producer. This person will be the liaison between the show and R-TV. He/She will oversee the process, get all the paperwork signed, work with R-TV to schedule airdates, etc.

5. In the handbook you will find legal forms such as Actor’s Agreements, Location Agreements, etc. During your initial meeting with the Executive Producer you will be informed if these are necessary or not.

6. The handbook also contains some important forms to help you set up your show such as a shooting schedule, storyboard, script break-down, etc. Use these forms if the Producer and Executive Producer determine that they are necessary.

7. Once you have completed shooting and you are in post-production, the Show Producer/ Show Runner will hand in a weekly post-production report so that the Executive Producer knows you are on schedule. Any concerns should be brought up and documented.

8. Once editing has been complete and show is ready for air, the Show Producer must schedule a meeting with the R-TV Executive Producer to watch the show and fill out the Quality Control form.

9. Show will only air if the Quality Control form and all other contracts have been filled out and turned it to the Executive Producer.
