About
RTV was established in 1997 as the closed-circuit television station for Rollins College. Unfortunately, lack of funding made it nearly impossible for RTV to purchase the needed equipment to run a broadcast studio, so that it remained mostly unknown and unrecognized on campus for many years.
The 2000-2001 season has proved the most successful, with the most amount of shows aired, but lack of funding caused RTV to wither yet again. Since RTV’s ten year anniversary in 2007, however, the station has been growing exponentially, more than ever before.
The 2008-2009 season has seen major changes and advances in RTV. Through a grant given by Rollins College, RTV was finally able to make some major purchases to update outdated equipment, and buy such necessary tools as cameras, a switchboard, and a broadcasting program. New shows have been created, a stronger infrastructure established, and plans for a new season in 2009-2010 are underway.
RTV is a student run television station, produced closed-circuit (campus-access only) for all of Rollins College. It airs on channel 98. Productions include original shows – including news, sports, talk shows and dramas – as well as commercials or advertisements for events, departments, clubs, organizations, and more. RTV also accepts student-made content produced outside of the station, and will air it alongside our own material.
